Boasting is boasting, you think Administration had nothing to do with that report? It was just pure dumb luck that Bush allegedly read 50 books in a year.

It’s like this… you report that I am an idiot. Does that mean that I boasted about it?

  3. zzfour says:
    February 21, 2010 at 4:48 pm

It was reported because Bush boasted about it. How else did the press hear about it? They didn’t get it from an anonymous source, and even if they did it was designed to improve his bad image, otherwise known as boasting.

I always love an intellectual conversation, even with people who disagree with me. Which is why this conversation is over. Love ya.

Yeah. Boasting means you talk about things you did yourself. “It was reported” means somebody else said it. Do you even know what boasting means?

  6. zzfour says:
    February 21, 2010 at 5:47 pm

“It was reported that he was having a contest with a member of his administration to see who could read the most books and he won.”

That’s not boasting? Do you even know what boasting means?

You are completely wrong twice. I never said it was inept to compare the accomplishments of Presidents. Obama is not a past President, he is a sitting President. Its foolish for conservatives to believe Obama and Bush are comparable at this point. Second, Intel divisions are not constrained by congress, the funding is controlled by congress. And I might add the GOP was in control of congress from 94-06.

In closing to answer your question, Yes Bush is stupid. did you just figure that out?

  8. bigdatut says:
    February 21, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Ok, so it’s inept to compare the accomplishments of one president to another? How do you figure that? And to say that Bush didn’t find Bin Laden, it sounds like you think he was personally looking for him and is stupid because he failed. That’s not how it works. He turns the military loose and they can’t find him. How is that a reflection on Bush? Intel divisions are constrained by congress – controlled by democrats. Obama has a year. That’s not long enough? How long does he need? 10 years? 20?

  9. bigdatut says:

Wrong. Bush didn’t brag about it. It was reported that he was having a contest with a member of his administration to see who could read the most books and he won. Actually, it isn’t necessarily a good thing. How does the president find that kind of time? He would have to read all day long. It doesn’t mean he is doing a good job. One has to admit that. But the fact remains, he reads a lot.

Bush did boast about that alleged notion, and It was only reported because of Bush’s boasting. There is no way Bush could find time to read fifty + books in one year provided he put in over 40 hours a week for the Presidency, and I hope he did.

Second “Obama hasn’t found Bin Laden either.” Obama has been in office less then a year. Bush had over six years, the US Arsenal, and a 90% approval rating at his disposal. The notion that Obama and Bush can be juxtaposed is unbelievably stupid!!

  11. bigdatut says:
    February 21, 2010 at 8:50 pm

Bush read over 60 books in the final year of his second term. That was stated in the article. Reagan read something like one book per month. Clinton didn’t read that much, but he did write quite a bit. I don’t question his intellect for that reason. Bush didn’t boast about that, it was reported about him. But don’t let that stop you from bashing him. Stupid? I think not. What degrees do you hold? How do your grades compare to his? Obama hasn’t found Bin Laden either. You could do better.

You haven’t even stated the number of books he read in one year, and you have no idea how many books Reagan, or Clinton read in one year. Suppose he read X number of books in a year, if he is not intellectually insecure why is he boasting about that notion.

Even if he did read X number of books in a year that still doesn’t explain away his stupidity. Think about how long it took him to get rid of Paul Bremer, and don’t get me started on Bin Laden.

  13. bigdatut says:
    February 21, 2010 at 9:40 pm

That would be based on the number of books that he reads. If you check it out there was an AP report about that very thing.

  14. zzfour says:
    February 21, 2010 at 9:51 pm

“he reads more than almost every other president in the history of the country” ??? Really, that is based on what??

  15. bigdatut says:
    February 21, 2010 at 10:41 pm

Ok… so they accused Bush of being illiterate, and then it turns out that he reads more than almost every other president in the history of the country, and the reaction is “He reads! We’re supposed to applaud this!” and then “I don’t think he read the WHOLE book!” Man… cram that.

well actually it should be required. Because if you consider the fact that the placenta is no longer needed by her, it’s logical. What they usually did before is that the took the placenta and froze it and stored it (they never throw them away. And besides stem cells can be acquired in other ways too….without using babies.

Does that morning after pill for AIDS thing actually exist, or was it just something they were speculating about back then? I haven’t head anything about it other than on this show, maybe because I was pretty young when this aired, but my guess is that they found something wrong with it?

i remember watching this when it aired. conrad was always a slanted lunatic. there is no reason to limit stem cell research, although i don’t think anyone should be forced to be a part of it. to limit or prohibit w/e people choose to do regarding stem cells is ridiculous and usually religiously based, which is unconstitutional. stem cell research is needed and should be explored as much as possible.

It should be similar to donating organs. You cannot require something like that. Should fathers be required to donate anything? I’m all for stem cell research and advancements the medical field related to this, but you cannot require anyone to donate in that way.
