you know what seriously how can you call someone you dont even understand a ‘fag’ its not right you think you understand someone but you don’t know this woman, she is truly inspirational because her message still stands strong today… Think about it it could be you who are next infected and not because your gay but because you weren’t careful.
Don’t judge somone because of what they stand for. Care about who may be the next to suffer because it could be you

I was just with her on Capitol Hill advocating for access to quality HIV care for the needs of HIV patients to be considered in health care reform. She is doing well, and is still a wonderful and tireless advocate. I’m proud to know her :-)

We have killed each other with our ignorance, our prejudice, and our silence.

That speech was amazing, one of the all time best I think. Even today people are still amazingly ignorant about HIV/AIDS.

She got it from her husband.

Try saying what you said to someone with AIDS.

No, it is not. This is from 1992 (16 years ago) Its a perfectly legit question for someone with HIV.

    It’s an honest question.

No, she’s still living. You might Google someone before you just ask “is she dead?” though. That sounds a little cold.

“adolencenst dont give each other cancer or heart dieasese because they believe they are in love, but hiv is different: and we have helped it along: we have killed each other with our ignorance, our prejudice, and our silence.”

    i swear to god she’s a virgin.

you people may laugh, but aids wasn’t spoken about in the 90′s! If people found out I had aids They shunned and looked down upon me. I am very thankful for mary for being such a bold woman and bringing the topic into play. I wish i could thank her personally!

I’d tap that, you know if she didn’t have AIDS.
